Question by Sam: Do people in the US say ‘glasses’ or ‘spectacles’?
I can’t find any dictionary references to people using the word ‘glasses’ separate from eg sunglasses, aviator glasses. I want to know about using just the word ‘glasses’, as in ‘where are my glasses?’

I wear glasses, the ones that make it possible for me to behold the world. Spectacles is what the elder of us tend to use. A spectacle in my world is something sensational that draws your attention. Like a two year old wigging out in the toy department at Target.
