Q&A: How can I tell if an eyeglass service is good?

Monday, July 18th, 2011

Question by debodun: How can I tell if an eyeglass service is good?
I need new glasses, but my optical insurance (EyeMed) that I get through my employer only allows us to see limited service providers – Lens Crafters, Target, Sears and Sterling Optical. I did some Internet research and there are numerous consumer complaints about each of these providers. It scares me a little. How can I be sure I won’t become a victim of wrong prescriptions, breaking frames and surly staff?

Help me understand this..I am not very good in english?

Question by Amer: Help me understand this..I am not very good in english?
You are in conference with the marketing manager of Sun-2-Shade, and are still in the process of developing a marketing plan. Sun-2-Shade is a company that manufactures automobile windshields that self-darken in the same manner as some eyewear, automatically darkening in the sun, and going back to light in the shade, on a cloudy day or in the evening.

Just before your meeting, you jotted down some other question that you feel need to be answered in order to create an effective marketing plan:

1. What features/attributes of this product customers might consider when purchasing Sun-2-Shade from an auto parts store or an after-market windshield installation and repair company?

2. Are the same things going to be important if the main customers are the auto manufacturers? What additional or different features/attributes might manufacturers consider?

What is these two questions asking me? I am not American. Any ideas?

The first question is asking if you went to the auto parts store and you’re looking for a windshield what would be the things you would think about (as far as how good each windshield is) before buying it.

The second question is asking what the companies who make the cars are thinking about before buying. (Like would it make the car value go up, that would probably be your main point in number two)

The first question is asking you to list the good things a customer would like about the product, and the bad things the customer thinks about the product. The good and bad things will help the customer decide if he wants to have the windshield installed.

The second question asks why would an auto maker or auto glass repair shop want to stock and sell this product. Is it worth the time and money to provide these windshields to the public? (and why)
