Question by Macadiaz: How do I know I got the eyeglass prescritiom and contact lense prescrition suitable for me?
I need advice! My contact lense prescrition is -6.50 left eye and -7.50 right eye. I just got my glasses -6.00 on the right and -8.00 on the left ansimethings not right. Does this prescription make any sense?

No, it doesn’t make sense.

You sure confused things by switching right and left here…lol

Glasses – 6.00 should normally be – 5.50 for contacts
Glasses – 8.00 should normally be – 7.25 for contacts, but that doesn’t exist , so – 7.00 or – 7.50 would be right. Most likely a – 7.00 would work better than – 7.50.

Have you tried the contacts, you must have problems ?

You should have – 5.50 right, and – 7.00 left in contacts ( possibly a – 7.50 )…it could go one way or the other. Trials would have to be done.

can you take a contact prescription and transfer that to an eyeglass prescription?

Monday, June 20th, 2011

Question by atombomb66521: can you take a contact prescription and transfer that to an eyeglass prescription?
i know u cant change an eyeglass prescription to a contacts prescription due to dimensions of eyeball.. can it be opposite?

Best answer:

Answer by Footprintz
A contact prescription is derived from the glasses prescription, but you can’t tell the glasses prescription from seeing the contacts prescription.

You are right, a contact prescription will also have the Base curve of the contacts written on it, but the power is derived from the glasses Rx.

There are often small astigmatism corrections in the glasses Rx that won’t always be on the contact Rx

Does your contact lens prescription change if you eyeglass prescription did?

Friday, June 17th, 2011

Question by Ask Tracy, she has the answer..: Does your contact lens prescription change if you eyeglass prescription did?
Vision question:

If your optometrist determined that your vision deteriorated and your eyeglass prescription changed, wouldn’t that mean you would need a new prescription for your contact lenses as well?

I wear both eyeglasses and contact lenses. Last year, my (L) eye was -2.00 and (R) was -3.00. This year, my doc determined that my (L) eye changed to -2.25. But when I ordered contact lenses, they gave me ones with my old prescription from last year. They are insisting that the contacts are the correct prescription.

Can someone help?

They should both change since they’re both correcting your vision. Maybe they haven’t received your new prescription?
